Needless to say, I’ve been a bit remiss in my blog updating the past couple weeks. A four-day weekend spent in the mountains with my girlfriend and new Kindle (and no internet or cell phone access) has had a surprisingly lasting effect on my online habits. I hadn’t realized how much effort I was spending on keeping up to date with the interwebs until I took some time off.
In any case, some great software has received incremental updates in the recent past. Together was updated to version 2.1.2 (release notes), EagleFiler was bumped to 1.3.4 (release notes), Leap is now sitting at 1.0.6 (an update that includes Time Machine support, Danish support, and a couple bug/crash fixes), and Default Folder X is now at 4.0.6 (release notes). Enjoy.

Code Collector Pro has been updated to version 1.2.3. This minor release simply fixes some syncing problems with Codecollector.net, but aside from its version number is otherwise unremarkable.
The update is available via the in-program auto-update, or from the Code Collector Pro website.

Code Collector Pro has been updated to version 1.2.2. This minor update includes Ruby on Rails Textmate bundles by default, adds command-option-F as a shortcut to jump to the search field, and fixes a couple of bugs.
For more information, see the 1.2.2 blog announcement or release notes.

Never rains but it pours: Cha-Ching was also updated yesterday, bumping it to version 1.2.3. This minor update now allows you to sort by tags from the Print panel, fixes some MacHeist registration issues, and adds importing to QIF notes.
The developers have also revealed their upgrade policy to Cha-Ching 2.0 in the 1.2.3 update blog post. It sounds like 2.0 will be bringing a lot of improvements to the tagging in Cha-Ching (both in the interface and behind the scenes), but I otherwise haven’t heard much about what’s on Cha-Ching’s horizon.

Default Folder X was updated to 4.0.4 yesterday. This minor update includes a number of different bug fixes, including a crash fix caused by entering accented characters in the Spotlight comments box. For more details and to download, see the Default Folder X release notes.
Aside from being an indispensable tool for file system tagging solutions that use Spotlight comments, Default Folder X is a great all-around enhancement to the file system’s save and open dialogs. This is one of those pieces of software that became an irreplaceable part of my workflow as soon as I launched it; I highly recommend it.

MarsEdit, the excellent blogging desktop client, has been updated to version 2.1.3. This minor version increase brings better draft status detection to the recently released WordPress 2.5 and Blogger, adds support for viewing a post’s tags in the preview template, ceases to escape characters in URLs inserted via macros, and includes a number of other minor fixes.
For details, see the MarsEdit 2.1.3 blog announcement. I highly recommend MarsEdit; as long as you’re comfortable with basic HTML, it vastly reduces the effort necessary to keep a blog up to date and the developer is very responsive and friendly.

At long last MailTags 2.2 has emerged out of beta and is ready for general consumption. MailTags 2.2 is Leopard-only, free for all registered 2.x users, and offers significant improvements over 2.1, including new support for tagging RSS feeds in Mail, tagging Mail notes, and a new extensible architecture under the hood that should allow either Indev or third parties to extend MailTags’ functionality in interesting ways.
If you’ve never tried MailTags, I highly recommend it. MailTags is one of those rare programs that can become an irreplaceable part of your workflow during its trial period, and is not to be missed for anyone for whom email is a central part of their productive workday. For more details about the 2.2 release in general, see the MailTags homepage, the general release notes, or the detailed release notes.

Code Collector Pro received a minor update to version 1.2.1 at the end of last week. This minor version increase fixed a problem where snippets that weren’t set to be shared were posted on CodeCollector.net along with a couple of other bug fixes and a new “Add snippet from clipboard” toolbar button.
For more information, see the 1.2.1 blog announcement or the release notes.

Thanks to a tip from a reader, I just discovered Evernote 3.0 beta, a web service for storing notes, images, and clippings with clients for Mac, Windows, and mobile phones alike. The screencast featuring the Mac client makes it look very, very cool, and with tagging support and super easy searching and tag-based filtering, this looks like it may be a strong competitor with more traditional desktop-only file libraries in some respects.
I’ve sent some questions to the Evernote press people, and if they’re willing I’ll try and get a preview of the Mac client up here on Tagamac in the near future. Just seeing the screencast, I’m really excited about the possibilities Evernote seems to offer.

Code Collector Pro, the tag-based snippets organizer, has been updated to version 1.2, and along with this version the developer has released CodeCollector.net, an online service that allows you to share and sync your favorite code snippets with others (for free!). This version also reintroduces a free “lite” version of the program that doesn’t offer tagging or a number of other advanced features. As of version 1.2, Code Collector Pro now allows you to lock individual snippets to prevent editing, adds drag and drop support to other apps, and introduces some new interface elements to make sorting and using your snippets easier.
For more details, please see the 1.2 blog announcement, Code Collector Pro release notes, and of course CodeCollector.net. Code Collector Pro costs €20 to register. Although the tagging interface in Code Collector Pro is a little bit clunky (you have to use an Inspector-style window to adjust the metadata for any given snippet), this is still an exciting application for anyone who needs to keep track of common code snippets or share them with others.
